Is informatics equal to information technology?

After delving into the topic, I've found that while informatics and information technology might seem interchangeable, they are not identical. Informatics, in essence, focuses on the study of how information is used and processed, often in a specific field like healthcare or biology. On the other hand, information technology is more about the practical application of those processes, focusing on the creation, implementation and management of computer systems and software. So, while they share a common interest in information, the way they approach and work with it is quite different.
