CyanogenMod 9 (Ice Cream Sandwich) has never been that close (and it will get closer with every day that passes Winking smile). While we are waiting for an official release, folks keep on getting their hands on the code source and compile it for all of us. The latest builds start to get really usable and now support HD videos (YouTube, Netflix etc.) on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and others. ICS looks and now runs amazingly well on that tablet. Find out more after the break.

ICS is really a great improvement over running Honeycomb especially on an Android tablet. If you compare side by side CM9 and stock Galaxy Tab 10.1 experience you will think you are watching 2 different tablets. Yes, Honeycomb can be optimized and can run extremely well (try a ROM like Galaxy Task and you’ll see!) but out of the box it is far from perfect. ICS aims at providing a great end user experience out of the box! You definitely need to try it out.

There are still a couple of things not working but HD video finally works which is a great improvement, the camera does not work yet in case you’re interested.

You can download CM9 for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 at various locations:
