Porting Honeycomb (Android 3) to the various Android tablets out there is not an easy task given that the source code for Honeycomb is not available yet and that there are some driver or kernel issues but this didn’t stop spacemoose1 @ XDA who has managed to boot Honeycomb on a Samsung Galaxy Tab. The port is not fully working yet as you can expect but it gives us a taste of Honeycomb.
Switching between suspended apps in Windows Phone 7 can be laggy as the apps are dehydrated (status saved in internal storage) when suspended. When you go back to a suspended app the Windows Phone 7 OS has to retrieve the status from the internal storage and resume the application, this is what takes a bit of time. Jaxbot @ WindowsPhoneHacker found a registry hack which eliminates this lag.

The HTC Thunderbolt is a brand new 4G smartphone on Verizon and while 4G can be great it does also decrease your battery life and may interfere with your 3G connection. webOS 1.x came with an emulator that was allowing you to run old PalmOS applications within the webOS framework. With the release of webOS 2, HP decided to get rid of this emulator but thanks arthurthornton @ PreCentral it is now possible to bring it back. This method uses files from both webOS 1.4.5 and webOS 2.0.1 to enable the classic PalmOS emulator.

Adobe just announced last week that they will release Flash 10.2 for Android on March 18th but it has already been leaked online. BBCrackman at MyDroidWorld received the file and then released the apk so any Android user can now install the latest Adobe Flash release on their device. This version of Flash works fine on Honeycomb, Gingerbread or Froyo devices.

FullHDMI is an app created by orrebmas @ AndroidCentral which mirrors your HTC EVO 4G display onto an external display (HDTV for example) using the EVO HDMI port. Finally a good use for that HDMI port This application is currently in public beta but FullHDMI is stable enough if you feel adventurous.
eried @ XDA released a nice application which lets you browse the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace from your computer. Using Windows Phone 7 Marketplace for Windows PC you can search the marketplace and deploy apps directly to your Windows Phone 7 device. Version 1.6.3 was released recently and provides some enhancements and fixes.
The HTC Inspire 4G is the AT&T version of the HTC Desire HD, it comes with a great 4.3 inches screen, Android 2.2 and 4G capabilities. The device has been rooted and DOAlaboratories @ XDA released a custom kernel for Cyanogen Mod 7 which overclocks the HTC Inspire 4G to 1.8 GHz.
CyanogenMod 7 RC2 has just been released a couple of hours ago and it brings Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3) to various devices like the HTC EVO 4G, HTC Desire HD etc. For those of you using the HTC EVO 4G it does include WiMAX which is a great achievement. Remember this is not yet considered a stable release even so many are reporting it does work well.
Many of the latest mobile devices are capable of being a Wi-Fi hotspot (aka Wireless tethering) but carriers force customers to buy extra options to enable it. Thanks to richhed @ XDA, it is now possible to enable this mobile hotspot feature on the Motorola Atrix 4G without paying extra. This is really handy as you can use your Motorola Atrix 4G connection anywhere with a Wi-Fi only tablet like the iPad or Motorola Xoom.
The Samsung Moment is officially stuck with Android 2.1 (Eclair) for the time being but thanks to the SDX Developers it is now possible to install Android 2.2 (Froyo) on it. The Samsung Moment is still a decent Android device and it is really encouraging to see the developer community not giving up on it. Maybe we’ll see Gingerbread on it!
The Motorola XOOM which was released this week (and already rooted) comes with the brand new Android Honeycomb boot animation. It is actually quite nice and tntdroid has been able to port this animation to the Motorola Droid X. Read more if you want to install it on your device.
The Motorola XOOM has been out for a few days and it has already been rooted (see @ How To Root Your Motorola XOOM) and now overclocked successfully to 1.5 GHz. Thanks to this overclock hack the Motorola XOOM CPU becomes much faster than any other tablets’ CPU including the iPad 2.
