The overclocking community is on fire these days, recently we talked about how to overclock the Samsung Nexus S, the Nook Color and the Archos Gen8 Internet Tablets and now the Palm Pixi has also been overclocked. Thanks to the UberKernel you can now overclock the Palm Pixi CPU to 806 MHz, this same UberKernel kernel is also available for the Palm Pre.
For those of us who are still running Windows Mobile it is now possible to apply a theme which mimics the Windows Phone 7 dialer. Some may like WP7 IDialer for its simplicity, this theme which actually is more than just a theme since it also includes a dialer was developed by 72ls1 @ XDA. It is now available for both QVGA and WQVGA, let’s check it out.
HTC HD2 owners have many choices: they can stick with Windows Mobile, run Windows Phone 7 or switch to different flavors of Android. Some might also want to be able to dual boot Windows Phone 7 and Android, darrengladysz @ XDA detailed the steps to run Windows Phone 7 from the HD2 NAND memory and Android from the SD card of the HTC HD2.
The Samsung Nexus S appears to be a very versatile device like its predecessor the Nexus One. It is possible to overclock it to 1.4 GHz and now it is also possible to run not just one different operating system but two: Meego and Ubuntu. Meego and Ubuntu were the first non-Android operating systems to run on the Nexus S thanks to stroughtonsmith @ XDA.
If you’re interested in overclocking your Archos Ge8 Internet tablet like the 101, 70 or 43 you will be interested in this. ardatdat @ XDA released a custom kernel for the Archos Internet Tablets that can overclock your tablet to up to 1280 MHz. This kernel brings a smooth user experience and is said to be stable.
Barnes and Noble has created a monster with the NOOK Color! It is a great eReader and in addition to that it does make a pretty good and cheap Android tablet once it is rooted. And now it even got better as it has been overclocked successfully to up to 950 MHz. This does require a rooted Nook Color and a custom kernel from our friends @ XDA.
The Samsung Galaxy S can now be SIM unlocked for free thanks to an application developed by helroz @ XDA. What this means is that you should be able to use any SIM card into a Samsung Galaxy S using this application. Let’s have a look.

The day has finally come, we were all wondering if the HTC HD2 would see a port of Windows Phone 7 anytime soon and after 5 months of development it is now a reality. The Dark Forces Team brought Windows Phone 7 to the HTC HD2 community yesterday. The cloud services (Xbox Live, Marketplace etc.) were not working in the beginning but it took only a few additional hours for the XDA community to release an hack for that.
The HTC EVO Shift 4G is the newest 4G phone for Sprint, it has just been released in the US and it has already been rooted… only temporarily (temproot) but a full root procedure will most likely come soon. The HTC EVO Shift 4G is a nice device with a physical keyboard, a 3.6 inch touchscreen, 512 Mb of RAM and a 800 MHz CPU.

Android Honeycomb is supposed to be the next Android release, so far it has been assumed it would be version 3.0 but recent rumors are telling us it could be Android 2.4 or 2.5… time will tell! Anyway what interests us here is that a new Music player is coming up with Honeycomb and it is now possible to install it on our Android devices.
It is now possible to have full root access on the Gen8 Archos Internet Tablets (101, 70, 43, 32, 28) using a custom kernel. This new kernel has been released by $aur0n @ XDA and it not only provides root access, it also uses the ext4 filesystem which is much faster than ext3 and offers additional enhancements.
unrevoked, one of our favorite tool to root HTC devices, has just been updated and version 3.3 now supports HTC EVO 4G running the latest Over The Air (OTA) update: 3.70.651.1 and the latest HBOOT version: 2.10. It also comes with the latest release of ClockworkMod recovery from Koush .
