Posted by techhackz-admin Tuesday, October 4, 2011

Slowly but surely the Android Market is getting bigger and better for Android tablets. Recently Google redesigned their Android Market application for phones but until now it wasn’t available for Android tablets. Apparently some users of the Motorola XOOM got a Market update at the beginning of October and as usual this app update apk has been extracted so you can now install it on any Android Honeycomb tablet.

You can find the new Android Market version 3.1.6 on XDA @ New Android Market Update 3.1.6. Simply download the APK file (Vending.apk) to the /system/app folder on your tablet.

Note that this new Android Market file requires root privileges, if you haven’t rooted your tablet check out our various articles about it like: How To Root Your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, How to Root Your Toshiba Thrive, Root Acer Iconia Tab A500 with Honeycomb 3.1 – How To or One Click Easy Root for Asus Eee Pad Transformer.

As you can see in the 2 screenshots below the Android Market looks really nice on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1:

The folks on XDA have found the following so far:

Noticeable Changes:
1. New UI For Tablets
