Hide System Menu on Galaxy Tab 10.1

Posted by techhackz-admin Sunday, September 18, 2011

I have myself wondered why it wasn’t possible to hide the system bar on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 as you lose quite a bit of real estate while browsing the web, playing a game etc. Disabling the bar or auto-hiding it is not an out of the box option and once again we have to thank the folks @ XDA as MaximKat has published a modification which allows you to choose when to display this status bar. A much welcomed hack, find out more about it after the break.

You will need to root your tablet first before you can apply this status bar modification to your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1: see our article about it @ How To Root Your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

You might wonder what it does so check out those 2 screenshots, at the top the status bar is hidden and at the bottom it is displayed:
As you can see you definitely gain some space on your screen, always useful!

You can download the necessary file ( and find the installation instructions on XDA @ [MOD] Hide the system bar via power menu.
