Skype released an update to their Android application which, in addition to a better looking UI, enables video calling but only for a few Android devices like the Google Nexus S, HTC Desire S, Sony Xperia Neo and Sony Xperia Pro. Thanks to pulser, we now have an unlocked version of Skype 2.0.0.45 which supports many more devices like the HTC EVO 4G, HTC Thunderbolt, Samsung Galaxy S 2 and others.
You can get the skype_2_0_0_45-signed.apk file @ http://www.villainrom.co.uk/SGS2/skype045.php.
If you already have Skype installed on your device, I recommend to uninstall it first and then install this version. To install, simply copy the APK file to your device and install it on your Android phone using a File Manager.
Then start Skype and try a video call with someone! In our tests it didn’t work very well over 3G, the voice quality is good but the video wasn’t working properly… let us know if it works for you!
