1.6 GHz Overclock For Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Out of the box the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 NVidia Tegra 2 CPU runs at 1GHz which delivers a solid and smooth experience. Some developers thought it could go faster and after seeing a 1.4 GHz overclock (see here) it is now possible to increase the Galaxy Tab 10.1 speed to 1.6 GHz! This is quite an improvement, some users have reported incredible Quadrant score: close to 3000 points. Find out how to overclock your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 after the break.

In order to overclock your Samsung tablet to 1.6 GHz you will need to install a custom kernel. Here is the changelog for this kernel [from XDA]:

Follow these instructions to install this custom kernel and overclock your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet:
  1. Download the custom kernel @ 3.1 Galaxy Tab Wifi OC1.6 Voltage Control Voodoo Sound CIFS-NTFS
  2. On your Galaxy Tab 10.1, reboot into recovery and flash the custom kernel
  3. Now download the latest version of SetCPU @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
  4. Install the SetCPU APK file on your Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
  5. Start the SetCPU app, accept the root privileges when prompted
  6. In SetCPU, select autodetect and pick ondemand for governor.
