Root Acer Iconia Tab A500 with Honeycomb 3.1 – How To

We covered recently how to root your Acer Iconia Tab A500 with Honeycomb 3.0 installed on it, now that Acer released their Honeycomb 3.1 update for the Acer Iconia Tab A500 a new method to root it has been released. It is actually even easier than the original one and will allow you to run all the custom ROMs that are being released for that tablet. Let’s find out how after the break.

Follow these instructions to root / jailbreak your Acer Iconia Tab A500 running stock Honeycomb 3.1:

  1. On your tablet go to Settings > Applications and check ‘Unknown sources’
  2. Download the iconiaroot-1.0.apk file @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138228
  3. Copy the iconiaroot-1.0.apk file to your Acer Iconia Tab A500
  4. Install the iconiaroot app on your device
  5. Run the root app and press root to start the rooting process

Note: You can unroot your device using the unroot button.

Many users have reported being able to successfully root their Acer Iconia Tab A500 running Honeycomb 3.1 with this method.
