The Samsung Galaxy Tab was the first Android tablet to come to the market with a version of Android not designed for tablets: Froyo (aka Android 2.2). We can be sure that Samsung will never release Honeycomb for the original Galaxy Tab as the new Galaxy Tab version has now been released. But thanks to the folks @ XDA you can install a custom ROM and get the benefits of Honeycomb today on your original Samsung Galaxy Tab.

You can see Honeycomb in action on a CDMA Samsung Galaxy Tab in the YouTube video below:

and here is a video of the GSM Samsung Galaxy Tab running Honeycomb:

You will first need to root your Samsung Galaxy Tab before you can flash a custom Honeycomb ROM on it. To do so follow our instructions @ How To Root Your Samsung Galaxy Tab.

To get Honeycomb running on your Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet you can use one of the 2 following custom ROMs:

  • Honeycomb SGT - Alpha 2.5 [GSM]
  • Honeycomb SGT - Alpha 2.5 [CDMA]

Those links contain the download files and installation instructions to get Honeycomb running on your Samsung Galaxy Tab.
