Improve Your Notion Ink Adam Battery Life – How To

Posted by techhackz-admin Friday, April 15, 2011

The Notion Ink Adam tablet users have reported a pretty bad battery life for that device and this is in part due to the Phone apps installed on it while they are unnecessary. roebeet @ NotionInkHacks created a firmware update which remove those apps and increase the Notion Ink Adam tablet battery life.

Here is a description of the battery life issue and how to fix it [from (HACK) to remove Cell Standby (battery life)]:
Many people have reported less than optimal battery life, on the Adam. This is a firmware update just to remove the Phone apps that are causing the unnecessary battery drain. You would run this like any other firmware update. I figured that some people would prefer this over running a tool like ADB.

This can be run on stock, or any stock-based mod (like EDENx). Non-stock mods may not work, given that this is removing odex files that other mods may not use.

You can test this after-the-fact by going into Settings -- About Adam and checking what is using the battery. "Cell Standby" should no longer be seen.

You can follow these instructions to install this update on your Notion Ink Adam tablet [from [ROM] EDENx alternative firmware (v2.3.0, updated 4/01/11)]:
Mount your device to your PC and then extract the rar to the root. So, for example, if your mounted drive is F:, you should see this:
Unmount cleanly, then reboot into standard recovery (power + volume up key). The install should run automatically, and reboot again to complete.
