The folks at SDX have been working hard to first root the Samsung Epic 4G and now they have also found a way to boot into recovery mode which should now allow us to install custom ROMs on this new 4G device. See the instructions after the break.
LexusBrian400 @ XDA shared some changes he made to the build.prop file of a Motorola Droid X, those modifications can increase your device battery life or make it run faster. Some users have reported those hacks had a positive impact on their Quadrant score for example.
The latest release of unrevoked (3.2.1) is now out after a few additional rounds of testing, it can be safely used on any supported devices. unrevoked3 provides a one-click rooting solution for devices like the HTC EVO 4G, HTC Droid Incredible, HTC Desire or HTC Aria, it can now also permanently unlock the NAND write protection of a few of those devices.
I got a chance to sit down with an HTC Product Manager this week during a conference and got my hands on a brand new HTC device which according to the HTC representative will come to Sprint soon. This does not appear to be the HTC Desire Z but it looked very similar to it with a nice slide out physical keyboard.
Windows Phone 7 devices will be released pretty soon and its unique design has now been duplicated for Android devices thanks to the work of newone757 @ XDA. The Windows Mobile port of Android 2.2 (Froyo) for HTC devices is now final! The folks behind the project recently released the final build that is fully working on the HTC HD2 or HTC Touch Pro 2 for example. This is quite an achievement and shows that both Windows Mobile and Android are flexible and open platforms, congrats to the XDANDROID team.

Jaxbot @ XDA Developers just released a standalone lock screen replacement for Windows Mobile 6.5. This lock screen will be part of his upcoming Windows Phone 7 theme for the HTC HD2, this application will run on any WVGA devices.
Android is a very flexible mobile OS and folks are trying to squeeze it anywhere they can, it runs on a couple of Windows Mobile devices, on iPhones and now it even runs on the Nokia N900 which is a mobile internet device (it can make calls too!). All of this was made possible by the NITDroid team.
The HTC EVO 4G has been rooted a while back already but with every Android update the community has to find new ways to root the updated OS. We had to wait a little bit but now Android 2.2 (aka Froyo) running on the HTC EVO 4G can be rooted using a method similar to the one used on the Motorola Droid 2.
DaRkL3AD3R @ the Android Central Forums was able to discover a way to edit the resolution of your Android screen. It does not actually modify the resolution but the impact is the same, everything will look smaller on your screen. This hack requires root access as you can imagine. The Samsung Epic 4G is the latest Android 4G phone released on Sprint, it is a variant of the Samsung Galaxy S which now can be found on pretty much all the major US carriers. joeykrim @ SDX-Developers released a root procedure that gives you permanent root privileges on the Samsung Epic 4G.
We spend a lot of time hacking our devices, installing new apps , new ROMs etc. but we also play a lot on our phones so it’s time for us to start taking a look at some cool games for Android, iOS etc. This week we’ll start with Heavy Gunner, a space shooter game from Com2uS that is really enjoyable.
You read it right the UberKernel for the Palm Pre pushes its CPU to 1GHz, this actually doubles the CPU speed of the Palm Pre which by default runs at only 500MHz. UberKernel is an open source project created by the folks at WebOS Internals that is now available through Preware the application installer for WebOS.
