Asphalt 5 – Racing game for iPhone, Android, iPad I have always been a big fan of racing games on consoles or PCs and Asphalt 5 is a great way to get the excitement of a racing game on your portable device whether it’s on your iPhone or iPad. Asphalt 5 was created by Gameloft and released a couple of months back for iOS devices but only recently for Android devices.

In Asphalt 5 or Asphalt HD you can choose to control various high end cars from car makers like Ferrari, Audi or Lamborghini as well as bikes from Ducati. The graphics are amazing and are definitely as good as you can find on a PSP for example. Take a look at the following YouTube video of Asphalt HD on an Apple iPad:

We tested this game on an HTC EVO 4G and it runs great, Gameloft recommends to run Asphalt HD on on high end Android devices like the HTC EVO, Nexus One, Motorola Droid X or the Samsung Epic 4G.

It requires iOS 3.0 or higher on the iPhone or iPod Touch and iOS 3.2 or higher on the iPad.

Pros

  • Great graphics, as good as what you can get on a Sony PSP and much better than any games on Nintendo DS.
  • Easy to control, you can choose to use your device accelerometer or tap on your screen to turn
  • Good soundtrack
  • Many different cars to choose from and some good tracks

Cons

  • Requires a high end Android device

Final: 8/10

Not many cons for this one, Asphalt 5 / HD is a great racing game for iOS or Android devices and we highly recommend it.
