The folks at SDX have been working hard to first root the Samsung Epic 4G and now they have also found a way to boot into recovery mode which should now allow us to install custom ROMs on this new 4G device. See the instructions after the break.

You will need to first root your device, see our instructions @ How To Root your Samsung Epic 4G.
You can download all the files to install the ClockworkMod recovery on your Epic 4G @ http://forum.sdx-developers.com/epic-development/clockworkmod-recovery-for-the-epic-4g!-build-20!-beta/.
Follow the installation instructions [from http://forum.sdx-developers.com/epic-development/clockworkmod-recovery-for-the-epic-4g!-build-20!-beta/]:
1. you need Samsung galaxy s drivers
64-bit OS http://firon.net/xda/usb_drivers_GalaxyS_x64.zip
32-bit OS http://firon.net/xda/usb_drivers_GalaxyS_x64.zip
2. push MENU, select Applications > Development, then enable USB debugging.
3. extract and run runtryfirst.bat or runtrylast.bat
4. enjoy!
There are a few known issues but not much to worry about, all we have to do now is to wait for some custom ROMs to be released for the Samsung Epic 4G.
