The Sprint HTC EVO 4G is an amazing device but with its huge screen and fast CPU it doesn’t have a great battery life. There is hope! Some users have reported that with a rooted HTC EVO 4G and the Overclock Widget you can improve dramatically your device battery life. Let’s take a look at it!

All the credit for this discovery goes to nick325i!

First you need a rooted HTC EVO 4G, you can find the instructions @ How To Root your HTC EVO 4G.

Then you will need to download the Overclocking Widget from http://www.appbrain.com/app/org.freecoder.widgets.overclock. What you want to do is not to overclock your HTC EVO 4G which would decrease the battery life but underclock it only when the screen is off (when you don’t use it basically).

Use the following settings for best results:

Results will vary and can be conflicting, it worked well for a lot of users but others reported no improvements.
