The Apple iPad is a huge success and since its release hackers have been hard at work to bring us a jailbreaking solution for the revolutionary tablet from Apple. Here comes Spirit a jailbreak solution that works on the iPhone, the iPod Touch and the iPad and is available on both Windows and Mac. Spirit is extremely simple to use so if you want to jailbreak your iPad follow the instructions!
Spirit works with the iPhone / iPod Touch running firmware 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 and the iPad (3G or not) running firmware 3.2.
So what’s Spirit (taken from http://spiritjb.com/):
- Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.
- Spirit is not a carrier unlock.
- If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)
Here are the instructions:
- Download the latest version of iTunes, Spirit works with any version of iTunes 9.
- Download Spirit @ http://spiritjb.com/
- Connect your Apple iPad to your computer
- Run Spirit and click on Jailbreak to start the process
- Once the jailbreaking process is complete you will see Jailbreak Complete in the Spirit application, click on Quit to exit Spirit. Your iPad will reboot and once it is done you’ll have a jailbroken iPad!
