The Sprint Samsung Moment was recently rooted and with the recent release of a leaked Android 2.1 update for the Samsung Moment the folks @ SDX-Developers are extremely busy! The rooting / jaibreaking instructions apply to Android 2.1 only. A rooted Android phone gives you access to custom ROMs, unofficial applications and more.

Before you start rooting your phone, note that you’ll need Android 2.1 and it is also recommended to use joeykrim recovery 2.1.3 that you can find @ http://forum.sdx-developers.com/android-1-5-development/joeykrim-sdx-recovery-2-1-3-472010/.
Once Google Android 2.1 is loaded, turn off your device and reboot in recovery mode: Hold Volume down as well as Talk and End.
