Sauman over at PPCGeeks found a way to modify the area code database that many HTC devices running Windows Mobile are using. So now when someone calls you your HTC device will display both the city and state name!
The installation instructions are extremely simple:
- Download the CAB file @ http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=115496
- Using your favorite File Explorer, install the CAB
- Soft reset your device
Note that this tweak is for Windows Mobile only running on HTC devices, this includes the HTC Touch Pro, HTC Touch Pro 2, HTC Diamond, HTC Diamond 2, HTC HD, HTC HD 2 and so on.
You can see below a screenshot of what your HTC device will display when someone calls you after you’ve applied this hack (note the city and state name):
The registry tweak works for many carriers including Verizon.
