You knew it was coming ;) Jaxbot at XDA created a Windows Mobile 6.5 homescreen replacement that looks like the Metro UI we’ve seen in Windows Phone 7. Note that this is not a skin or a theme for Windows Mobile but an application that you start to get access to this Windows Phone 7-like homescreen.
It is a beta / alpha release so don’t expect something totally usable yet but there are a couple of things working fine:
- Access to Phone, Text, Email (Outlook), Favorites
- View appointments on lock screen
- Live tiles like on Windows Phone 7
The animations can be quite sluggish on low end devices so give it a shot if you have an HTC HD2 for example.
To install the application:
- Download the CAB (wp7s_theme_preview.cab) @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=639288.
- Copy the file to your device and install it.
- Run w7ps.exe to start the application
