Precorder: Video Recording for Palm PreThe Palm Pre is a very nice device with a brand new Operating System: webOS. Like any new OS some features are not there from day one (think about multitasking on the iPhone for example ;D), one in particular is the ability to record videos straight from the Pre camera. This feature will be coming officially to webOS in the future but why wait when there is Precorder out there!

Precorder is now in alpha, it means it is possible to test it but expect bugs and crashes from time to time. It is created by ZSoc of WebOS Internals.

Some of its features are:
- ability to record at 30 FPS using 480x320 resolution.
- MP3, AAC and AMRNB audio encoding support.
- MPEG-4, H.264 and H.263 video encoding support.
- mp4 and 3gp file output support.
- Camera Flash support.

Precorder videos can be viewed on the Palm Pre using its video player.

You can get the software over here: http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Application:Precorder
There are a couple of ways to install it:
1. Using a Bootstrap Script.
This is the recommended approach, you'll have to type the following commands:
mount -o remount,rw /
rm -f precorder-bootstrap
wget http://bit.ly/precorder-bootstrap
sh precorder-bootstrap

Use the Terminal application in Preware to get to the command line.

2. Using WebOS Quick Install, follow the instructions here to install Precorder.
